What is InDesign Server?

Adobe Adobe® InDesign® Server software delivers a robust and scalable engine that leverages the design, layout, and typographical capabilities of InDesign to let you programmatically create engaging automated documents. It shares the same core engine as the desktop product. Plugins and scripts written for desktop will run on InDesign Server too. InDesign Server is a developer product and is most often used with Partner solutions who integrate it into a variety of content management, workflow and printing solutions. InDesign Server can also be programmed to create digital output such as ads or content elements that require well designed, fixed layouts

Adobe InDesign is a desktop publishing and typesetting software application produced by Adobe Inc.It can be used to create works such as posters, flyers, brochures, magazines, newspapers, presentations, books and ebooks. InDesign can also publish content suitable for tablet devices in conjunction with Adobe Digital Publishing Suite.

Adobe decides to stop updating and distributing Flash Player at the end of 2020 and encourages content creators to migrate any existing Flash content to new open formats, such as HTML5, WebGL, and WebAssembly. Check out Adobe's detailed announcement: Flash and the Future of Interactive Content. What's changed for InDesign. Also, InDesign’s default display performance has always been set to Typical Quality. Due to this you do not see the images placed in the document in their full fidelity. This was done to provide you with optimum performance when you perform operations like zooming, scrolling, panning etc. This is where the GPU comes into play. Nov 20, 2019 Save the INDD file in 2020 as IDML to make it open it in CC2019. A good method is to macke a package File Packa for Print, found either in the File menu or if you work with an INDB file it is found in the INDB Panel menu, there tick to export aside with the INDD also PDF and IDML. InDesign Server is a developer tool and requires job specific scripts or plugins and is often integrated with content management and worklow solution. Adobe recommends working with a partner either to purchase their product or for consulting, training or assistance with development. Indesign 2020 Icon

InDesign removed the support for placing, importing, exporting, and linking Flash files, such as .FLV, .F4V, and .SWF. If you try to import any of these files, an error message is displayed.

Following panels are changed:

SWF Preview (Window > Interactive > SWF Preview) is no longer available now.
Links panel (Window > Links) will show missing links for the linked or embedded Flash format graphics.

The options related to Flash formats are removed from the following dialogs:

Export Optionsdialog(File > Export)
Animation and Timing panels (Window > Interactive > Animation) and (Window > Interactive > Timing)
Media panel(Window > Interactive > Media).
Note: The Navigation Points functionality is available only for version 14.0.3 or below.
Page Transition (Window > Interactive > Page Transition)
Object States Panel (Window > Interactive > Object States)
Buttons and Forms Panel (Window > Interactive > Buttons and Forms)
